The Red Herring editorial team selected the companies demonstrating the most innovative technologies and business models originating from more than1,000 companies in more than 40 nations. These companies, representing past Red Herring award winners, are judged on a range of qualitative and quantitative metrics, including but not limited to technology innovation, financial performance, growth criteria, management’s execution standards, potential globalization of the strategy and market share improvement.

“In today’s economies, the unrivaled technology ubiquity is not only disrupting how we work but also how we live and think. The vast amount of data and intellectual property combined with the innovation and disruption created by today’s entrepreneurs is touching every sector. More than 300 startups are striving in the construction field alone. The 2016 Red Herring nominees have proven that while some will worry about a bubble, there is no pause in innovation any time soon. And nothing must be taken for granted in this electoral year,” said Red Herring CEO Alex Vieux. “Speed, creativity and unconventional business models are constantly shifting investors’ thesis and users’ behavior —both are demanding more, not less, from entrepreneurs. An unprecedented number of entrepreneurs are jumping ahead of the competition and making a difference. Constant breakthroughs make recent developments obsolete faster than ever before.

“In light of everything, Robin Systems is performing exceptionally well in its field and deserves to be singled out as one of the Red Herring Global finalists,” Vieux continued. “At this stage, we are left with the daunting task to select the best qualified companies for the 2016 Top 100 Global Award.”

The finalists are invited to present their winning strategies at the Red Herring Global forum in Los Angeles, Nov.15-17. The Top 100 winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Nov.17.

The Robin Containerization Platform: Application-centric IT infrastructure for Digital Enterprise

Robin’s Containerization Platform makes possible the Application-Defined Data Center, enabling IT professionals to dramatically simplify application deployment and lifecycle management while guaranteeing predicted Quality of Service. This also enables enterprises to achieve significant CAPEX and OPEX savings via application consolidation on shared hardware. Running on a customer’s own commodity hardware, the Robin Containerization Platform software pools the computing and storage resources across servers to create a containerized agile compute layer, where applications are deployed within containers. The container-aware scale-out block storage enables modern agile application lifecycle management, including snapshot and cloning of the entire application. Robin’s application-aware infrastructure fabric controller automates and marshals the compute and storage layers, thereby making the infrastructure completely transparent to the application owners and developers.

Robin Containerization Platform helps users:

  • Increase hardware utilization by a factor of 2x-3x by consolidating Big Data clusters such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Hbase and Kafka, without compromising application performance or QoS predictability.
  • Reduce database licensing cost by 50 percent or more through database consolidation.
  • Eliminate unpredictable application performance with industry’s first “Application-to-Spindle” QoS guarantee.
  • Boost productivity by a factor of 10x-100x for developers and DBAs, with capabilities such as 1-click cluster deployment, scale-up and scale-out, application snapshot, clone and time travel.
