The European Technical Standards Institute’s (ETSI) Multiaccess Edge Compute (MEC) standard describes a new ecosystem that enables application developers, content providers and 5G network operators to deploy predictable cloud-computing capabilities at the network’s edge using Consumer Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware in an Information Technology (IT) environment.
